ROTARY CHARITY GOLF DAY BRINGS OUT THE FINE WEATHER
The sun shone as 64 intrepid golfers took to the first tee at West Byfleet Golf Club oon 6th July 2022 to raise funds for Sight For Surrey and Woking Besom. For the first time in three years, we were able to hold a gala dinner afterwards complete with a charity auction.
16 teams competed for the Barney David Trophy for the best overall team, which this year had a clear winner in the form of the team made up of volunteers from Sight For Surrey, who scored 121 points, five points ahead of the next two teams. The Best Player award went to Sam Townend of the Parrington Autos team.
The evening auction over dinner was a roaring success with generous golfers competing to win each of the 11 lots, many of which had been donated by local golf clubs.
The organising team from Woking District Rotary pronounced themselves pleased with the day’s events. Said Club President Martin Leigh: “We selected Sight For Surrey and Woking Besom as the two beneficiaries of our charity golf day this year, and I’m delighted that the event has raised a profit of over £5,900.”
We would love more teams to join us with men's, ladies and mixed teams all being welcome.
